Frequently asked questions…

•Can I book online or do I need to contact you to make an appointment?

You can reach me by using my Contact page, emailing me directly at archipelagobria@gmail.com, or calling me at 608.219.8013.

•Do you see clients in person or virtually?

I can see you both in-person or on my easy, breezy telehealth platform.

•Do you accept insurance?

I do not. For more info on why that is, please refer to the bottom of my Services page. I can offer a superbill, which you can then submit to your insurance provider. See below for more information on superbills.

•Is there parking available?

Yep.There is a parking lot right outside the building, and assigned, accessible parking spots.

Is the building accessible?

Yes.The main atrium is large and airy, and there is an easily accessed elevator.

•Do you offer different lengths of sessions?

I offer 60, 90, or 120 minute sessions, and please don’t hesitate to ask if you have questions about this! I want to accommodate clients’ needs as much as possible.

•Do you offer mental health consulting?

Yes. As of January 2025, I offer mental health consulting for those who are more interested in a less “therapeutic” approach - the journey is no less significant for many, but involves more suggestions and solutions than regular therapy. I can also work more flexibly - this allows me to connect with you if you live in another state or even a different country! Please ask if this is an option you might be interested in, and I can provide further details.

• There may be times when I need to talk for a few minutes outside of session - will you do this for me?

For a additional fee of $30 per 20 minutes, I can talk with you on the phone or provide additional collaborative care.

Please Note: If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, dial the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline “9-8-8”.

A superbill is a document that contains information about the services you received from your therapist or mental healthcare provider.

a. A superbill includes:

1.     Dates of service or sessions

2.     Type of service provider, including diagnosis code

3.     The full fee for services

4.     The total amount billed

5.     Therapist contact information /practice information

6.     Client date of birth, legal first and last name (needed to match your insurance), and contact info

7.     Therapist NPI number

You can use a superbill to request reimbursement from your insurance company if your therapist is out-of-network. Superbills are similar to detailed receipts for therapy or services from an out-of-network provider. A superbill may also be referred to as a claim form, invoice, or statement of services.

b.     Disclaimers:

    i.     Some health insurance plans may offer partial reimbursement for out-of-network services. You would likely be required to pay for the session upfront and then submit a claim for reimbursement afterward. (Your insurance provider can tell you what forms you need to submit regarding your medical bill.)

ii.     When a client submits a superbill, they are asking the insurance company to pay for the service. This request opens the door for the insurance company to review the treatment record, notes, etc.

c.     It is the client’s responsibility to:

       i.     Understand your out-of-network benefits with your insurance policy.

ii.     You want to look up your out-of-network deductible and any coinsurance you may have for mental health or behavioral healthcare.

iii.     You can call your insurance company by finding the phone number on the back of your insurance card. If you have a healthcare navigator or navigation platform, you can also ask them for help.

iv.     Questions to ask your insurance company:

1.     Has my deductible been met this year?

2.     What is my out-of-network deductible for (outpatient) mental health or behavioral health?

3.     What is my out-of-network coinsurance, if any?

4.     Do I need a referral from an in-network provider to see an out-of-network therapist?

5.     What is the process for submitting claim forms for reimbursement?

         v.      Once the above has been completed, here are the steps you can take:

1.     Attend your therapy session and pay for it out-of-pocket. Be sure to obtain a superbill from your therapist that lists all the necessary information, including the provider's name and NPI number, the services provided, and the costs associated with each service.

2.     Submit the superbill to your insurance company along with an insurance claim form. The claim form will vary depending on your insurance provider, but you can typically find it on their website or by calling customer service.

3.     Wait for your insurance company to process the claim form. The time it takes for the claim to process can vary depending on your insurance provider, so it is best to check with them for an estimated timeline.

4.     Receive reimbursement! If your insurance plan offers out-of-network coverage, they will typically reimburse you for a portion of the cost of therapy. The reimbursement amount will depend on your specific plan, so always check with your insurance provider to understand your benefits.
